Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008 was the last day for students of UPI attending the learning process in 2008, because from December 24Th, 2008 to January 4Th, 2009, we had a silent week. It was as the holiday at the end of the year and it was also as a refreshing for us before we face the final test. Um...Long holiday! I love it!!! That was the moment that I've been waiting for because I can laze-around during the holiday.
In the beginning of the holiday, I did the activities that I always do as a child who lives far away from her parents. I was very busy to clean my apartment, redecorated the locations of my stuffs in my apartment, and so on. Then, at night, I arranged a daily activities schedule for my holiday. I hoped with this schedule, I can use my holiday as effective and efficient as possible.
I woke up early on the next morning because i had to attend a Christmas Celebration in the church because it was Christmas. Merry Christmas all!!! And it took me one and a half hours. After that, i returned to my apartment to prepare my self for the activity that i love most, "Exploring The Shopping Centers". Well, i planned to visit the shopping centers on Kepatihan Street because my fiends told me that it would be fun if we shop there. Em, it sounds interesting!!! I went there by bus. Then, about 30 minutes later, I arrived on Kepatihan Street. I was amazed with the atmosphere there and I said t my self that I've been ready to have a fun adventure here. I visited the shops there one by one. First, I visited Matahari Department Store, but I couldn't find what I need. Then, I came to Kings Shopping Center, but the result was the same. Last, I visited Yogya Shopping Center. And here i could find what I've been looking for. After satisfied exploring the shopping centers, I returned to my apartment. As I arrived in my apartment, I immediately put the stuffs down on the floor, then took a bath, and finally went to sleep. I was very tired that day!
On the following day, I realised that I was alone in mu apartment's area because the other people have returned to their own hometowns. Alone again!!! That how I always spend my long holiday since I live in Bandung. Ans honestly, I was very sad because I thought that I had to celebrate the new year's eve alone....Oh, how poor I am!!! But, surprisingly it didn't go that way.
In the morning of December 30Th, 2008, someone knocked at my door. I was still sleepy at that time, but I forced my self to wake up. When I opened my door, I saw a familiar face was smiling at me. i scoured my eyes to make sure that I wasn't dreaming. And finally, I realised that it was true. He is my neighbour who has returned from his hometown. Oh....I was very happy because I wasn't alone anymore. And I became happier when another friend of mine also returned to our apartment.
On the next day, we planned how to celebrate the new year's eve. We agreed to walk around anywhere while waiting for the change of the year. We began our adventure by 04.00 PM. we walked around to some shopping centers, such as CiWalk, Riau Junction, 347 eat, and last we stopped at BIP. And, when we were in BIP, we changed our plan. At first, we only wanted to walk around there, after that returned to our apartment and celebrate new year's eve there. But, one of us said that it would be better to watch a movie in BIP and then go to Gazibu Area to see the fireworks party. We agreed. So, we immediately bought 4 ticket for a film titled :"Madagaskar 2". My friend said that the movie is very funny and good. Well, it sounds interesting to me! Before we watched the movie, we had dinner first at the food court there. We were starving because we have used a lot of energy to walk around for some hours. In a moment, we finished our dinner and it was almost 08.00 PM. So, we immediately went to the cinema and sit on the chairs based -n the numbers on our tickets. The movie was started. My friend was right! The movie was fulled of humour. Whenever stop laughing from the beginning to the end of the movie. What a funny and interesting movie!!!
After that we moved outside BIP. The atmosphere was very crowded and we could her the sound of the trumpet. Afterwards, we went to Gazibu Area, but one of my friends couldn't come along with us because he had an appointment with his friend. We were a little bit disappointed, but that was okay... We waited for the public transportation to Gazibu Area, but no one passed. So, we decided to go on foot to a cross-roads and took a public transportation to Gazibu from there. It took a lot of energy because in fact, the cross-roads is far enough from BIP. Yet, it was okay, just for the new year's eve. some minutes later, we reached the cross-roads. From there, we took a public transportation to Gazibu and in a minute, we reached Gazibu Area. There were so many people there. As we arrived there, we immediately walked around the area. Then, when it was almost 12.00 Am, we stayed in a place and handed the trumpets that we bought before. Soon, in a moment, the fireworks party was begun and people flew their trumpets because the new year has come. We also flew our trumpets, said happy new year to each other, and enjoyed the fireworks party. One by one message which contains new year's words and praying received in my hand phone. They were come from my family and relatives, my friends, and even from someone who I didn't think before. I was very happy to get a message from him because I didn't think that he would remember me. And about a half hour later, we returned to our apartment. We reached there at 02.00 Am. We were very tired that day, so as we arrived there, we immediately got into our own room and slept.
The sunshine has been already bright when I woke up again. I looked at the clock and I was surprised! Oh, My God!!! It was 12.00 PM! It was very late! I immediately got up from my bed and took a bath.
After the euphoria of new year's eve ended, my days returned to normal again. I began to busy again with my daily activities. But, one thing that won't be normal anymore is my financial output. I lost control in this case. So, I must use my money more wisely now.....I was busy with all of the assignments from my lectures at the end of my long holiday.

How to Make A Paper Sea-Mew
Are you a person who like to create something from papers? How about creating a paper sea-mew? Interested??? Em, you'd better try this then.!
First, you should prepare all of the materials needed, such as some cardboard, a pencil, a ruler, a paper tweezers, some coloring pens and a cutter. Every part of a sea-mew's body has different size, so you you need to prepare three different sizes of cardboard. The measurement for the body is 10 cm x 3 cm, for the wings is 19 cm x 4 cm, and for the tail is 8 cm x 3,5 cm. Second, draw the sea-mew's body on a 10 cm x 3 cm size cardboard. After it, slice and make a 4 cm hole in the middle of the cardboard. The width of the hole must be matched with the cardboard's width. Next, slice the tail part for 1.5 cm. Then, cut the body part according to the drawing patterns. After that, make the wings part by using the 19 cm x 4 cm cardboard. Then, draw the feathers and put the borders for the parts that will be cut with broken lines. Next, cut the cardboard in wings shape and then colour it. After that, draw the tail part on the 8 cm x 3,5 cm cardboard. Slice for 1,5 cm at the front part. Then, cut the cardboard in tail shape according to the drawing patterns. Last, bunch all of the paper bird's parts, the body, the wings, and the tail by putting the wings and the tail to the parts that has been sliced before. Then, shoved the paper tweezers in the beak part. And finally, the paper sea-mew is ready to be played! Fling it up! Wow! The sea-mew flies in the air.!

Chinese New Year's Day
Chinese New Year's Day is one of the important days for Chinese. Celebrated on the first day of the first month in Chinese's calendar, it is a time for Chinese to show their feeling of gratitude to God. Usually, on the Chinese New Year's Day, Chinese gather with their families and they eat delicious meals together. In Chinese's tradition, the younger people at home must great the older ones (such as parents and other older relatives) by lumping their hands(the left covers the right hand) and saying "Gong Xi Fa Chai" or "Happy New Year". Then, the older ones will say "Gong Xi Fa Chai", too and give the special red envelopes which is filled with money (the Chinese usually call it "Angpau") to the younger people. After that, they visit their neighbors one by one to solidify the ties of friendship among them. They also invite people from different religions to come to their houses in order to solidify the ties of friendship in the society where they live. The atmosphere is very crowded, especially with the presence of Barongsai (A superhero creature in Chines History whose the body is dog's but the head is lion's). Barongsai usually visits the Chinese's houses one by one and you know what? The Chinese are happy for that. For them, it is a gift and their houses will be blessed for that year. That's why the Chinese always wait for that moment. They give the Barongsai "Angpau" to show their gratitude and the Barongsai will bow it's body to respect the owner of the house.
Because Chinese New Year's Day is an important day for Chinese, there's no doubt that they must do the preparations for it. Well, to welcome that Big Day, Chinese usually clean and repaint their houses every year. These are as symbols that they are ready to live in a new year with clean and new heart, new hope and expectation for a better life in a new year. About several days before the Big Day, they made a traditional cake named "Kue Keranjang(Basket Cake)". The cakes are made from glutinous rice powder, palm-sugar and sugar. So, the cakes are sweet in taste.
However, the most important thing moment is not the Chinese New Year's itself, but a day before it. A day before Chinese New Year's Day, Chinese always do the homage to God. They present some meals, such as meats, rice, cakes, fruits, and drinks. This to show their feeling of gratitude to God for what they have received for a year. Actually, this tradition is derived from the habit of farmers in China. After the harvest, they presented some meals as their presences to God. And they prayed and hoped for better harvest in the following years. And at night, they fired the fireworks. A day after they pray, they celebrated the harvest. They held parties and had fun. They visited and congratulated each other for the result of the harvest. They ate meals and drank the drinks. The point is, they enjoyed the day. The atmosphere was very crowded.
Once, the leader of Chinese Dynasty saw the farmers' habit. So, one day, he ascertained the harvest praying day as the end of the year and the party day as the beginning of a new year.Well, this is the history of the Chinese New Year's Day and it's celebration.
And, on January 26th,2008, Chinese will celebrate Chinese New Year's Day. Em, this year is the first time for me to celebrate this Big Day far from my home. So, I hope that the atmosphere will be as merry as i've experienced at home. I hope I can have fun and enjoy it. And I hope God always gives a better life and other best things to my family.

My Coffee Milk Feelings Room
Hello, guys!!! Here we meet again on my second writing! Well, as I wrote on my previous writing that I don't come from Bandung but I come from bangka Island. So, I don't live in my parent's house for a while, but I rent an apartment. My apartment is a rectangular room. It is 3 times 2,7 metres in size. So, it is a small room for me. And like a room usually, my apartment has 4 sides of wall, the front, the left, the right, and the back wall. The colour of the walls are same, brigth yellow. My room also has a small terrace where I usully take my sandals and shoes off.
Now, let's get into my apartment! There is a door and a window at the front wall of my apartment. The colour of the door is brown and so is the window's. The window has 2 layers of curtain. The first layer is white and the second one is brown.Besides that, there is a dispenser, a plate-shelf complete with the plates, glasses, and other dinning equipments, a multifunction table, a calendar and my special hat on the front wall.
On the right side, there is a plastic cupboard, 2 book-shelfs, 2 pails complete with the covers, a mirror, 2 brooms, a pink plastic dump site and other small stuffs. And there are my cosmetics and a small mirror on the plastic cupboard.
On the left wall, there is a clothes-peg where I usually hang my towels and clothes.
Last, on the back wall of my apartment, there are some pictures of my favourite actors. So, if I get bored, I can see them to make me happy again.
Besides that, my apartment also has other daily equipments, such as a bed, 2 pillows, some colorful carpets (green, pink, blue, grey and red)and other small stuffs.
Well, I put my stuffs on those locations because I think those locations are the right positions for them. But honestly, I have no choice about it because as I've told you before that my apartment is small. So, I must use every centimetres of my apartment well. As the old saying says, "The right man on the right position", but for me, it's gonna be," The right stuff on the right position"
Honestly, I don't really like this room. There are some reasons for that. First, because of the size of the apartment. It is not as big as my bedroom at home. The second reason is because of the location. There is a parking area for motorcycle in front of my apartment. And when the owners of the motorcycles warm up theirs in the morning, it is very noisy! You know, it really bothers me!!!
And the last one is because of what the former hirer told me. She told me that in the rainy season, the room wouyld be very cold and the floor and the walls would be moist. And now, i've seen that she was right. Ough, what a niusance!!!
You know? Sometimes I think it would be better for me to find a new apartment. But, then I realize that I must be patient, because I've rented this apartment for a year. Untill now, I've stayed for 3 months here. And, for the next 9 months, this apartment is gonna be the place where I do most my activities. I think 9 months is not a long time. So, what I must do is just to be patient.
My Profile
Hello!!!!!!!! My name's Tia Martiana. I'm 18 years old. I was born in Koba, on March 28, 1990. Now I live in Bandung. I'm a college student of Indonesia University of Education. I study English literature. I love traveling to new places. Besides, I like listening to the music and watching cartoons.
Well, I come from a small family. We consist of four persons, me, my dad, my mom, and my brother. My mom is a housewife. My dad is contract labor. My brother is a student of 1 Koba Senior High School. He is on grade first now. I live in a very happy family. I love my family so much.
I'm very interested in learning English. I have some nice experiences about English. When I was on grade second of Junior High School, I took a part in a speech contest in my province. The winner of the contest would represent my province in national level. I was the runner-up. I was a little bit disappointed because I was defeated only by a point. Then, on grade second of Senior High School, I took a part in English Debating Contest in province level. I was the fourth. Again! I was fail to compete in national level. Although I never competed in national level, English has given me some nicest experiences I ever had. I thank God for that.
